Brewed up trouble: Man pays price for tea shop rage after seven years in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: After seven long years, a Hyderabad man was sentenced to six months of simple imprisonment for assaulting another individual pouring a hot tea on his face at a tea shop on Tuesday.

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Kamathipura in December 2018, the altercation began when the victim, Mohammed Bin Abdullah, curious about the accused Mohd.Abdul Jafar’s hostile demeanor, asked, “Why are you looking at me so angrily?”. This seemingly innocent question ignited a furious response from Mohd. Abdul Jafar.

Going further into details, The complainant, Mohammed Bin Abdullah, encountered each other at Chand Tea Shop near Zeenthunnisa Mosque in Kamatipura, Hyderabad. The complainant, who was accompanied by his friend Nayeem, questioned the accused about his hostile demeanor which snowballed into a heated argument. In the melee, the accused took a cup of hot tea and poured it on the complainant resulting in severe burn injuries.

Subsequently, Mohammed Bin Abdullah approached Kamatipura Police Station and filed a formal complaint. Based on the complaint the police registered a case and started an investigation.

During the investigation, the injured was sent to Osmania General Hospital, where doctors examined him and gave a medical report that indicated 7% scald injuries on the right side of his face, upper eyelid, cheek, chin, and other regions of Abdullah’s body.

In court, the evidence presented by the prosecution, including testimony from witnesses and medical reports, led to the conviction of the accused Mohd.Abdul Jafar. On Tuesday, the local court sentenced him to undergo Simple Imprisonment Six months for the offence U/sec.324 of IPC and also to pay a fine of Rs.200/­ for the offence U/sec.324 of IPC. In default of payment of fine, the accused shall undergo simple imprisonment for a period of one month.
