Task force nabs two drug peddlers in Hyderabad, seizes MDMA, ganja worth ₹1 lakh

HYDERABAD: Sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone team, arrested two men for alleged drug peddling and seized MDMA and ganja worth ₹1 lakh from their possession on January 14, 2026.

Drugs seized during targeted operation

Police said the accused were found carrying 8 grams of MDMA and 0.8 grams of ganja (OG), which they allegedly intended to sell to customers in Hyderabad. The seizure included MDMA valued at ₹96,000 and ganja worth ₹4,000.

Accused linked to Bengaluru supplier

The arrested accused were identified as Anwar Hussain, 33, an IT recruiter, and Burra Sampath, 31, a car driver, both residents of Hyderabad. Police said another accused, identified as Charan, a resident of Bengaluru, is absconding.

Money transferred online for drugs

According to investigators, the accused, who had prior criminal backgrounds, allegedly turned to drug peddling to earn money. They reportedly contacted Charan to procure narcotics and transferred ₹38,000 online on January 8, 2026, for the supply.

Police said the West Zone Task Force team acted on credible information to apprehend the duo and recover the narcotics. The accused, along with the seized material, were handed over to the station house officer of Attapur police station for further legal action.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Inspector Ch Yadender and sub-inspector Md Jahed of the West Zone Task Force.
