Hyderabad police arrest two interstate ganja peddlers

HYDERABAD: The Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone, along with IS Sadan police, arrested two interstate ganja peddlers involved in transporting contraband from Nagpur to Hyderabad.
Police seized 11 kg of ganja worth ₹5.5 lakh, along with two mobile phones and ₹3,000 in cash, during the operation.
Officials said the accused were allegedly part of an interstate network sourcing ganja from Maharashtra and supplying it to local peddlers in Hyderabad. The contraband was being transported discreetly to evade police checks, they added.
Accused include Hyderabad auto driver, Adilabad cook
The arrested accused were identified as Syed Firdous, 31, an auto driver from Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad, and a suspect-sheeted offender, and Mohammad Khadar, 46, a cook from Islam Pura in Echoda mandal of Adilabad district.
Police said Firdous had prior involvement in similar cases and was under surveillance. Khadar was allegedly assisting in transportation and coordination of deliveries, investigators said.
Both accused were booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and were produced before a magistrate. They were later remanded to judicial custody.
Three others absconding; probe continues
Police said three other accused Mehraj of Nagpur, Sajju of Madannapet, and Yousuf of Jalpally are absconding.
Special teams have been formed to trace the absconders and identify backward and forward linkages in the supply chain. Further investigation is in progress.
