Hyderabad task force bust fake Oxytocin injections sale in Hyderabad, arrests three

CHARMINAR: Fake Oxytocin Injections selling gang was busted by the Hyderabad task force team on Tuesday. Oxytocin Injections are given to cows and buffaloes to increase the milk production. After rampant misuse of Oxytocin Injections on dairy animals like cows and buffaloes came to fore the Central government had restricted its use. Flouting the norms the accused were selling the fake Oxytocin Injections, stated the police.
Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, the Sout-west zone task force team of Hyderabad commissionerate said, “The Prime accused by name Lala Babu Yadav hatched a plan to prepare Fake Oxytocin injections by diluting Phenol which is with acetic acid and water. Phenol (CARBOLIC ACID CRYSTAL I.P) in its concentrated form is poison to humans and animals. Phenol is not available for domestic purposes, as it has ‘poisonous properties’ ”.
“Yadav procured the phenol with the help of Abdul Haji, who works as Housekeeper. After Preparing fake Oxytocin injection Bottles, Bunty used to supply these bottles to Suresh Kumar Gupta, who runs cattle feed Shop in Mangalhat and other dairies in and around Hyderabad city”, said the statement released by Hyderabad police. Subsequently, Suresh Kumar Gupta sells those bottles to farmers and dairy owners to extract milk from cattle.
Oxytocin Injections usage of animals regulated
Believing their words, innocent farmers and dairy owners injecting these fake oxytocin injections to cattle to increase milk but it is dangerous to cattle and the persons who drink milk of that cattle’s.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has restricted the manufacture of Oxytocin formulations for domestic use to the public sector only. The Health ministry issued the order based on the recommendations of the Drugs Technical Advisory Board and after examination of the matter, was satisfied that unregulated and illegal use of Oxytocin is likely to involve risk to human beings or animals and that in the public interest it is necessary and expedient to regulate and restrict its manufacture, sale and distribution to prevent its misuse by unauthorised persons or otherwise.
Mangalhat police of Hyderabad commissionerate booked a case under various Indian penal code sections 420(Cheating), 336 (Endangering human life),273 (Sale of noxious food or drink) IPC r/w 34 IPC and Sec 18© Drugs and Cosmotics Act. And further investigation is underway.
