Two interstate offenders held with two country-made pistols, seven bullets in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force and Mailardevpally police arrested two alleged interstate offenders and seized two country-made pistols, seven live bullets, a car and three mobile phones during a vehicle check in Mailardevpally on Thursday.
Police identified the accused as Mudassir Hussain alias Shah Baba, 24, a car dealer from Kilwat, Charminar, Hyderabad, and Ameer Khan, 26, a lorry driver from Degloor Naka in Nanded, Maharashtra.
The police seized two country-made pistols, seven bullets, a Baleno car (registration number TS23F1701) and three mobile phones. The total value of the seized property was estimated at ₹5 lakh.
Police say accused planned robberies using firearms
According to the police, Mudassir Hussain studied up to Intermediate and later completed a six-month Able-Bodied Seaman course in Mumbai. He subsequently worked for Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for two months before entering the used-car business, purchasing vehicles in Mumbai and selling them in Hyderabad.
During this period, he allegedly came into contact with Suraj Singh, a resident of Nanded with a criminal background. Police said Mudassir later became associated with Suraj Singh and his associates and allegedly took part in a dacoity in Karnataka and the kidnapping of a businessman in Maharashtra. He was subsequently lodged in Parbhani Jail in Maharashtra in connection with those cases.
Police alleged that after his release, one of his associates handed him a pistol and ammunition for safekeeping. Facing financial difficulties, he and his associates allegedly planned to commit robberies by threatening victims with firearms.
Police said Ameer Khan, who frequently travelled between Nanded and Hyderabad, later joined Mudassir and allegedly became involved in criminal activities.
Intercepted near Mehfil Hotel
Acting on specific information, Task Force personnel and Mailardevpally police intercepted the Baleno car near Mehfil Hotel in Mailardevpally on June 25, 2026. Police said the two men were allegedly moving around the area with the intention of committing an organised crime when they were apprehended.
Previous criminal cases
Police said Mudassir Hussain is an accused in:
- Crime No. 161/2024 of Basavakalyan Town police station, Karnataka, registered under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Arms Act.
- Crime No. 597/2024 of Akhada Balapur police station, Maharashtra, registered under multiple provisions of the BNS and the Indian Arms Act.
Ameer Khan is also an accused in:
- Crime No. 281/2024 of Vazirabad police station, Nanded, under Sections 302, 201, 109, 143, 147 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
- Crime No. 315/2026 of Moinabad police station under Section 305(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The operation was led by Inspector CH. Yadander of the Jubilee Hills Zone Task Force, along with Sub-Inspector Mohd Jahed, Task Force personnel and Mailardevpally police.
