Hyderabad Task Force arrests Odisha woman with 11.4 kg ganja

HYDERABAD: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City, West Zone Team, along with the Sanath Nagar police, arrested a 30-year-old woman for possession of dry ganja. Police seized 11.4 kg of dry ganja and one mobile phone, with the total value of the contraband estimated at ₹5.7 lakh.
The accused was identified as Rinita Raita, a resident of Kesariguda village, Antaraba post, Gajapati district, Odisha. Police described her as a sub-peddler.
How the accused was allegedly involved
According to investigators, Rinita Raita said her husband Ananth Raita, a farmer, earns daily wages that are insufficient to support the family. She told police that she also worked as a daily labourer at construction sites but struggled financially.
She allegedly contacted her cousin, Maniel Dalabehera, a resident of Patangapadar village in Odisha, who was involved in ganja trafficking to other states, including Hyderabad and Rangareddy. Police said she agreed to accompany him to Hyderabad to sell dry ganja after meeting him at Chadampur bazaar.
Police appeal to public
The Task Force appealed to the public, particularly youth, to stay away from drugs and warned against the lure of easy money. Police urged citizens to report any information related to drug peddling or suspicious activities by dialling 100, reiterating that public cooperation is vital to making Hyderabad drug-free.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Inspector Ch. Yadender and Sub-Inspector D. Ravi Raj of the West Zone Task Force, along with staff and the Sanath Nagar police.
