Hyderabad Task Force arrests four ganja peddlers, seizes 3.2 kg contraband

Hyderabad Task Force officers display seized ganja and vehicles after arresting four peddlers in three NDPS cases.

HYDERABAD: Sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone, arrested four persons  including two interstate ganja transporters  in separate operations and seized 3.2 kg of dry ganja worth about ₹1,60,000.

The operations were carried out in coordination with personnel of Attapur, Chandrayangutta and Mailardevpally police stations between March 11 and March 12, 2026.

Police registered three cases under Section 8(c) read with Section 20(b)(ii)(A/B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the three police stations.

Interstate transporters caught supplying ganja in city

The arrested interstate transporters were identified as Shaik Shoeb alias Chetan alias Shoeb, 22, and Mohammad Nadeem, 20, both residents of Akola city in Maharashtra.

Police said the duo had been procuring ganja for several months and transporting it to Hyderabad by train. They allegedly supplied the contraband to local peddlers in the city.

Officials seized 1.75 kg of dry ganja and two mobile phones from their possession.

Habitual offender among local peddlers arrested

In another case, Mohammed Jaweed alias Chicha alias Javeed, 54, an auto driver from Jalpally Gate in Shaheen Nagar, Balapur in Rangareddy district, was arrested.

Police described him as a habitual ganja peddler involved in 12 NDPS cases. He allegedly procured ganja from a supplier identified as Mohd Shoib alias Shoib Nawab and sold it at higher prices in the Chandrayangutta area using his passenger auto.

Police seized about 1 kg of dry ganja, one passenger auto and a mobile phone from him.

Another accused held with ganja in Shivarampally

The fourth accused, Tarun Sharma, 23, a kirana trader from Ananya Colony in Shivarampally, was also arrested.

Police said Sharma had earlier been involved in five robbery cases. He allegedly procured ganja from Bidar and sold it to consumers in and around Shivarampally using a two-wheeler.

Officials seized 500 grams of dry ganja, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from his possession.

Police team led coordinated operations

The operations were carried out under the supervision of S. Saidababu, inspector of police, Charminar Zone Task Force.

The team included sub-inspectors K. Rama Rao, M. Mahesh, M. Madhu and K. Swamy along with constables T. Prashanth, S. Bala Chander and P. Mahesh, working with staff of the three police stations.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) Ande Srinivasa Rao confirmed the arrests.
