Milk, cola, & ice cubes top Swiggy Instamart New Year orders in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Hyderabad celebrated New Year 2025 with grand festivities, and Swiggy Instamart saw a surge in orders as the city joined in the celebrations. The most popular items ordered were milk, cola, ice cubes, masala chips, and soda.

One Hyderabad resident spent an impressive Rs 18,000 on party essentials like jewelry, crockery, gift wrap, and diyas. Another user tipped a delivery partner Rs 1,000 for a single delivery, adding a generous touch to the occasion.

The city also saw record-breaking deliveries, with 67 orders completed in under three minutes.

Swiggy’s New Year’s Eve experience was filled with surprising trends and milestones, showing that both celebrations and quick commerce are in full swing in India.

Top Picks Across India

Swiggy Co-founder Phani Kishan shared live updates on X, detailing the country’s top picks on New Year’s Eve. Highlights included the most expensive order from Goa, the fastest delivery of tonic water in just four minutes, and the high demand for ice cubes. Nationally, the most searched items on Swiggy Instamart included milk, chips, chocolates, grapes, and paneer.

Popular party snacks like Premium Potato Chips and Nachos saw sales soar by more than 300%. Over 5 lakh packets of chips were sold, highlighting their popularity during celebrations.

Cold Drinks Lead the Charge

Cold drinks emerged as a major trend, with cola sales jumping 394%, while clear soft drinks increased by 941%. The biggest surprise was the 1541.72% surge in non-alcoholic beer orders. Cocktail mixers and sodas, particularly with mint, also saw an explosive rise in demand, increasing by 2,542%.

Games and Puzzles Soar

In addition to food and drinks, there was a notable rise in demand for games and puzzles. Orders for these items spiked by 600%, with Uno emerging as the most popular game of the evening.

The Ultimate Hosts

In Chandigarh, one party host placed over 50 orders, primarily for milk packets. Meanwhile, a party in Central Goa saw one user spend a record Rs 70,325 on party supplies.

Swiggy Instamart saw its highest-ever order volume on December 31, 2024, doubling the previous year’s figures. Phani Kishan also shared behind-the-scenes photos from Swiggy’s office celebrations and a cake-cutting moment at the Manipal pod, highlighting that the team’s spirit and hard work were key to making the holiday season a success.
