MLA Sudheer Reddy uses mosquito-net attire to flag Hyderabad mosquito menace

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Sudheer Reddy criticised the Congress government for failing to control the mosquito menace in Hyderabad.
In a protest, he held a press meet at the Assembly media hall wearing attire stitched with mosquito net to highlight the issue.
Uses protest to highlight rising health risks
Reddy said that during the previous BRS government, authorities used five methods to destroy mosquitoes and their eggs in water bodies.
He alleged that the current government has “left the public to fend for themselves” without preventive measures.
He said the situation had worsened to the extent that “the moment you open your mouth in Hyderabad, mosquitoes are flying into it.”
He added that residents are being forced into a situation where they need to “stitch mosquito nets for themselves.”
Demands fogging machines, warns of image damage
Reddy said the lack of action has led to an increase in mosquito-borne diseases, with people being hospitalised due to malaria and chikungunya.
He demanded that the government provide 10 fogging machines for every division in Hyderabad.
He urged the government to take urgent steps to control mosquitoes, warning that failure to act could further damage the city’s brand image.
