Heroic Rescue Ends in Tragedy: Telangana Student Loses Life in US

HYDERABAD: A 24-year-old student from Telangana lost his life while rescuing three friends from drowning in a river in the United States.
The incident occurred in the Sabine River near Toro Road Park in Louisiana during an outing with friends. According to reports, three members of the group drifted into deeper waters and struggled against strong currents.
Student saves three friends before tragedy strikes
Without hesitation, Anurup Reddy entered the river and rescued all three friends, bringing them safely back to shore one by one. However, while returning to the bank, a fishing line reportedly became tangled around his leg, limiting his movement.
The strong current soon overwhelmed him, and he could not free himself in time.
Rescue efforts fail despite quick response
People nearby rushed to help and tried to pull him out of the water. Despite their efforts, they could not save him. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The tragedy has left his family and the Telugu community in the United States in shock.
Master’s graduate was preparing for career
A native of Kavadipalli village in Abdullapurmet mandal of Ranga Reddy district, Reddy was the second son of real estate businessman Rajender Reddy.
Nearly five years ago, he moved to the United States with his elder brother, Ashrith Reddy, to pursue higher education. He recently earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of North Texas and was preparing to begin his professional career.
Family members and Telugu NRI groups in the United States have started arrangements to bring his mortal remains back to India.
