Hyderabad Student Allegations Uk University Dispute Accommodation Incident

HYDERABAD: Allegations of verbal abuse and forced return involving a Hyderabad student at a UK university have sparked concern, with student organisations demanding action against the institution.

Prasad Reddy joined the University of Hertfordshire in January 2026 to pursue a Master of Science programme. His family said university officials verbally abused him during an accommodation discussion on January 30.

They alleged officials used derogatory remarks and later forced him to return to India.

The family said they repeatedly complained to the university, but authorities failed to act. They added that the incident caused severe mental distress, leaving him unable to cope.

After returning to India, his condition worsened. Doctors admitted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad for stress-linked neurological complications. Relatives said his academic future now remains uncertain.

Student organisations strongly condemned the incident. They urged Indian institutions to reconsider ties with the university and advised students against enrolling there.

Leaders said they are in touch with the London Telugu Students Association and plan to pursue legal action. They also called for government intervention and said they will continue their efforts until justice is served.
