No fireworks, no DJs: Hyderabad cops set strict rules for Ganesh immersion day
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police have issued a set of precautionary measures to ensure public safety and order for the Ganesh immersion procession scheduled for September 13, 2024. In an effort to maintain a peaceful environment, the police have declared that no fireworks shall be used during the procession.
Organisers are advised to arrange transportation vehicles well in advance to carry Ganesh idols. Vehicles transporting idols from the South Zone are required to commence their journey early on the main immersion day. Each vehicle must display a distinctive number allotted by the ACP. Only one vehicle per Ganesh idol will be permitted, and no loudspeakers or musical systems with DJs will be allowed on these vehicles. Additionally, the use of confetti guns for sprinkling colors is prohibited.
Restrictions on alcohol, drugs, and traffic
The police have specified that individuals under the influence of alcohol or narcotic drugs will not be allowed in vehicles carrying Ganesh idols or within the procession. Vehicles must not disrupt traffic flow or cause any obstructions. They should not be stopped en route or near places of worship in a manner that could hinder other vehicles and traffic. On-site police officers will strictly regulate vehicle movement.
Prohibition of weapons and provocative acts
Participants in the procession are prohibited from carrying sticks, swords, knives, firearms, inflammable materials, or any other weapons. Sticks used for carrying flags or decorations must not exceed 2 feet in length and should be made of split bamboo. Throwing vermillion, kumkum, or gulal on passers-by is not allowed. Additionally, political or provocative speeches, slogans, postures, banners, or any acts that could offend public sentiments are strictly prohibited. Participants are required to adhere to instructions given by police officers. In case of an emergency, citizens are urged to dial 100.
