HYDERABAD: The Special Task Force (STF) seized 24 bottles of premium liquor worth ₹1.70 lakh from a vehicle transporting blood plasma from Delhi to Hyderabad.

The vehicle, meant to supply blood plasma for emergency patients, was intercepted during a check on the Gagillapur–Narsapur highway stretch. STF team leader Anji Reddy said the liquor was being transported illegally in the plasma vehicle.

Liquor procured from Delhi at lower prices

Chintala Jaipal Reddy, who drove the blood plasma vehicle between Hyderabad and Delhi, allegedly procured Glenlivet liquor bottles from Delhi, where prices are lower.

He is suspected of supplying the bottles to senior officials and taking a commission. Acting on specific information, the STF conducted checks and intercepted the vehicle.

Officials seized 24 bottles of Glenlivet liquor from the vehicle. The seized stock is estimated to be worth ₹1.70 lakh.

Police arrested Chintala Jaipal Reddy and Balakrishna Reddy in connection with the case. Cases were also registered against Vinny Kumar and Kanuganti Tirupati, Anji Reddy said.

The accused and the seized liquor bottles were handed over to the Qutbullapur excise station for further action.
