Srisailam To Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Non-stop travel from Hyderabad to Srisailam will soon become a reality, as the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved Telangana’s proposal for a 147-km Greenfield expressway.

Project to link Raviryal, Amangal and Mannanur

The project includes construction of a Greenfield road from Raviryal to Amangal and from Amangal to Mannanur, followed by an elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam.
The elevated section is aimed at easing the hilly terrain, allowing uninterrupted travel to the temple town.

Under the Future City development plan, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is already building a new road from Raviryal (Outer Ring Road junction) to Amangal, which will be integrated with the proposed Greenfield corridor.

₹7,500 crore project gets Cabinet nod

The state cabinet has approved an expenditure proposal of ₹7,500 crore for the project. The government will soon submit a detailed project report (DPR) to the Centre for clearance of the elevated corridor portion.

To reduce construction load, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to widen the Tukkuguda Dindi stretch (85.8 km) into a four-lane road and build a 54-km elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam.
The Union road transport ministry has directed the state government to transfer the Dindi Mannanur stretch to NHAI.

Land acquisition, utilities pose challenges

Land acquisition and utility shifting along the existing route are expected to be costly, prompting the government to explore alternative alignments.
As part of Future City, the government is already developing a 41.5-km Greenfield road from Raviryal to Amangal in Ranga Reddy district, acquiring up to 100 metres of land to accommodate footpaths, drains and utilities.

After completing this stretch, the state will extend the highway from Amangal to Mannanur (52.2 km) and connect it to Kalwakurthy bypass via National Highways 765 and 167.
A new 11-km link road has been proposed for this purpose, and the DPR has already been sent to the Alignment Approval Committee (AAC) of the central government.
