How Abhishek Singh, Rakesh Varma Figure In Probe
HYDERABAD: Police have intensified their investigation into the alleged drugs party case linked to the Moinabad farmhouse of former BRS Tandur MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case has identified three major routes allegedly used for drug supply.
According to SIT officials, several drug suppliers are suspected to be part of the network. Abhishek Singh and Rakesh Varma, who had been absconding, recently appeared before the SIT after obtaining temporary relief from the Telangana High Court. They later joined the investigation in compliance with the court’s directions.
Drug supply trail under scrutiny
During questioning, Rakesh Varma reportedly admitted that he had purchased cocaine from a Mumbai-based individual identified as Mazar in December last year. He allegedly told investigators that the drugs were later handed over to Kaushik Ravi.
Rakesh Varma, who runs a battery business in Bahadurpura, is said to have become acquainted with Abhishek Singh through interior works. Investigators said Varma also admitted to delivering a parcel containing drugs to Abhishek Singh before the farmhouse party.
Meanwhile, Clinton, who is suspected of supplying MDMA from Goa, remains absconding. Police have launched efforts to trace him.
Forensic report strengthens gunshot angle
The gunshot incident linked to the party has emerged as a key aspect of the investigation. SIT officials sent gunpowder residue samples found on Namit Sharma’s hands for forensic examination. The tests reportedly returned positive results.
Based on the forensic findings, police believe gunshots were fired during the party. Three accused arrested in the case have since secured bail.
However, SIT officials are continuing a detailed investigation into the alleged drug supply network, the organisation of the party and the reported firing incident.
