Shivapuri Colony residents protest demanding RTA office relocation

HYDERABAD: Amidst growing frustration over severe traffic congestion, residents of Shivapuri Colony staged a peaceful protest on Wednesday, demanding the relocation of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) office located at a main road junction in the area.
Organized by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the demonstration included local residents who stated that daily traffic gridlock poses significant challenges, particularly for women, senior citizens, and school students.
Led by Manikonda BRS President Seetharam Dhulipala, protesters gathered near the office and called for immediate action. Chants such as “Relocate it! Relocate it! The RTA office must be moved!”, “We don’t want the RTA office in front of Shivapuri Colony!”, and “Our colony is dear to us—we don’t want the RTA office here!” reflected the community’s opposition to the office’s location.
Following the protest, a delegation of residents and party representatives met with the Deputy Transport Commissioner, Sadanand, to formally present their grievances.

The Deputy Transport Commissioner assured the delegation that authorities would take immediate steps to address the issue. He announced that security personnel would be deployed at the location starting Thursday to manage traffic and prevent further inconvenience.
Local leaders and residents attended both the protest and the meeting with officials. Attendees included Kumbagalla Dhanaraj, Guttameedi Narender, Ande Lakshman Rao, Sangam Srikanth, Jairam, Kiran, Bhanu Chander, and Rajendra Prasad. Women leaders such as Vijayalakshmi, Shakeela Reddy, Shyamalet Rekha, Manjula, and Devipriya played a prominent role, underscoring the community’s unified stance.
