C.V. Anand imposes ban on gatherings in Hyderabad & Secunderabad until Nov 28
Hyderabad: Commissioner of Police C.V. Anand announced a prohibition on gatherings of five or more people, including processions, rallies, dharnas, and public meetings, within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on October 27, 2024. This order will be in effect from 6:00 p.m. on October 27, 2024, to 6:00 p.m. on November 28, 2024.
In his statement, Commissioner Anand cited reliable information indicating that various organisations and parties are attempting to disrupt public peace and order in the city through protests and demonstrations.

To maintain public tranquility, he stated, “In exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (formerly under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code), I hereby prohibit any gathering of five or more persons, as well as processions, dharnas, rallies, or public meetings. Additionally, individuals or groups are prohibited from making speeches, gestures, or displaying symbols, placards, flags, and electronic messages that may disturb public peace and order in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.”
While the prohibition is in effect, peaceful dharnas and protests will be permitted exclusively at Indira Park Dharna Chowk. Any protests or gatherings outside this designated area will not be allowed.
The public is advised that violations of this order, particularly near sensitive locations such as the Secretariat, will result in prosecution under applicable penal provisions.
Exemptions from this order include police officers (including Home Guards and Special Police Officers on duty), military personnel on duty, bonafide funeral processions, members of the Flying Squad of the Education Department, and individuals or groups exempted by the competent authority.
