Residents protest mosquito menace with effigy at Saroornagar Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Residents of Saroornagar staged a protest on Tuesday against the growing mosquito menace, alleging inaction by civic authorities.

In a symbolic demonstration, locals collected money through begging and used it to buy mosquito nets. They draped the nets over an effigy outside the Municipal Corporation LB Nagar Circle Office to draw attention to the issue.

Residents said the protest aimed to “wake up” officials who have failed to respond despite repeated complaints. “The mosquito problem in Saroornagar is worsening by the day,” a protester said.

They alleged that basic preventive steps such as anti-larval operations and fogging are not being carried out. “Officials are ignoring the issue and pushing people into hardship,” another resident added.

The protesters questioned the government’s handling of public health under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, asking whether such neglect was acceptable.

They demanded immediate anti-larval measures, regular fogging, and steps to protect public health. “This is not just a protest, it is the voice of people’s suffering,” a resident said.
