HYDERABAD: V C Sajjanar on Friday inspected the steel flyover works at Mugdha Junction on Road No. 2, Banjara Hills, taken up under the ‘Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure’ (H-CITI) project.

Officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and representatives of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited accompanied him during the field visit.

Seven flyovers, underpasses planned in two years

Sajjanar said the aim is to create a signal-free road network in the city. Around KBR National Park, seven flyovers and underpasses will be built over the next two years to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow.

He said the works are being executed in phases with coordination between GHMC, the state government and the police to minimise inconvenience to the public. Construction of six pillars on the stretch from Mugdha Junction towards KBR Park will begin from Friday night.

Night works to minimise traffic disruption

The commissioner said the works will be taken up during night hours to avoid daytime traffic disruption. Minor inconvenience may be faced only until the foundation works are completed, after which vehicular movement will continue as usual.

Once the project is completed, junctions around KBR Park will become signal-free, enabling smoother travel to central, east and west parts of the city, he added.

Traffic restrictions will be in force on the affected stretches. Motorists have been advised to plan their travel in advance and use public transport as far as possible. Officials will assess the situation over the next two to three days and issue updated traffic advisories as required.

Sajjanar urged citizens to cooperate with authorities during the execution of the city development works.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D Joel Davis, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) S M Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Kajal, Jubilee Hills DCP Ramana Reddy, senior GHMC officials and representatives of Megha Engineering, including Rambabu (engineer) and Sudhakar (project manager), were present.
