Drug trafficking racket busted in Hyderabad; two women held with 21.2 kg ganja near Lakdikapul

HYDERABAD: Saifabad police arrested two women and seized 21.251 kg of ganja allegedly being transported from Visakhapatnam to Mumbai in an interstate drug trafficking case.
Contraband seized during surveillance operation
Acting on specific information, a special team led by Sub-Inspector M. Swamy of Saifabad police station conducted surveillance near Lakdikapul Railway Station on May 29, 2026. At around 16.25 IST, police intercepted two women carrying three luggage bags near a private travels parking area.
During the search, police recovered 19 packets of ganja concealed in the bags.
Accused linked to interstate supply chain
The arrested women were identified as Tippigiri Laxmi, a native of Narayanpet currently residing in Mumbai, and Sandip Kaur Makkhan Singh, a Mumbai resident.
According to police, the accused confessed during questioning that they had procured the contraband from a supplier in Visakhapatnam and were transporting it to Mumbai for sale. They also disclosed the alleged involvement of two associates, identified as Baby and Sampath, who are absconding.
Police intensify hunt for absconding associates
Police seized 21.251 kg of ganja, three luggage bags and two mobile phones from the accused.
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The two women were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the absconding suspects and identify others involved in the interstate drug trafficking network.
