Hyderabad RPO to hold special passport drive on May 9, 4,000 slots announced

HYDERABAD: The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Hyderabad will conduct a special passport drive on May 9, releasing 4,000 appointment slots to handle increased summer demand.
Regional Passport Officer J Snehaja said on Tuesday that the slots would be made available online by the evening. Applicants can book appointments through the official portal.
The drive will be held across five Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) located in Begumpet, MGBS Metro, Raidurg, Karimnagar and Nizamabad.
More slots in city PSKs, shorter wait times expected
Of the total slots, 3,100 will be allocated to the three PSKs in Hyderabad, while 900 slots will be distributed between Nizamabad and Karimnagar centres.
The current waiting period for appointments at these centres is 8–10 days. Officials said the special drive is expected to reduce it to 5–7 days.
The RPO added that e-chip-enabled passports are being issued on a continuous basis. Existing passports without chips will remain valid until their expiry.
