According to the Society to Save Rocks, the Deccan rock formations around Hyderabad are nearly 2,500 million years old. The organisation says these geological structures face growing threats from rapid urban expansion.

The society recently completed 30 years of conservation work and has organised 360 consecutive monthly rock walks as part of its campaign to protect Telangana’s natural rock formations.
