Lingampally underpass, Kukatpally roads riddled with potholes

HYDERABAD: Several major roads in the city, including the Lingampally railway underbridge and stretches near Kukatpally, have turned hazardous due to deep potholes formed after continuous rains.
Officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said road repair and patchwork were being taken up under the road safety drive. However, the condition on the ground remains poor, with several stretches still dotted with potholes created during the recent monsoon.
Commuters said that Wednesday’s spell of heavy rain worsened the situation. “Every time it rains, the same stretches turn into craters. Two-wheelers skid easily,” said a resident of Kukatpally.
Lingampally, HUDA Colony roads in bad shape
Residents of HUDA Colony in Lingampally said their roads had deteriorated further this week. Mud, loose gravel and uneven surfaces have made driving difficult, they added.
Mobile app for road and manhole complaints
To address complaints, GHMC has introduced a mobile application allowing users to report potholes, open manholes, and exposed fuse boxes. Officials said the app would help track and prioritise repair works, but citizens remain sceptical about its effectiveness.
