Officials barricade area after road collapse
Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials set up barricades and alerted Water Board authorities after noticing the cave-in.
Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy inspected the site on Monday along with officials.
Old pipeline leakage leads to soil erosion
During excavation up to nearly 10 metres at the affected spot, officials found that an old sewer pipeline had been damaged.
They identified leakage from the pipeline as the reason for soil erosion, which led to the road collapse.
Ashok Reddy directed officials to take up repair works immediately.
Engineering-in-Chief (ENC) Director Sudarshan, Chief General Manager (CGM) Sujatha and engineers accompanied him during the inspection.
