Shamshabad airport receives hoax bomb threat email

HYDERABAD: Panic prevailed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Saturday after anonymous persons sent an email warning of a bomb in a Singapore-bound aircraft.

Aircraft searched after threat email alert

The flight was scheduled to leave in the afternoon. After receiving the email, airport authorities alerted security teams.

Anti-sabotage teams checked the aircraft for more than an hour and later declared the email a hoax.

Singapore Airlines flight checked after landing

Meanwhile, a bomb threat email was also received for a Singapore Airlines flight arriving in Shamshabad from Singapore.

Airport authorities moved the aircraft to an isolation bay immediately after it landed. Security personnel shifted the aircraft away from the main terminal area as a precaution.

Bomb disposal squad conducts full inspection

Bomb disposal teams are currently carrying out a detailed inspection of the aircraft.

Earlier, the Singapore-bound flight departed late in the night after a delay of about 13 hours. RGI Airport police registered a case based on a complaint and began an investigation to trace the sender of the email.
