Hyderabad Residents Demand on Illegal Parking

Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad are demanding the deployment of traffic police to address the growing problem of illegal parking on main roads, which is causing severe traffic congestion. Areas like Greenland near the Chief Minister’s camp office and popular eateries in Banjara Hills, such as Bikanerwala and Karachi Bakery, have been identified as hotspots for this issue.

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, MA Ahmed expressed frustration over commuters’ daily ordeal due to rampant illegal parking. “Hyderabad, a city of growth and development, is facing issues with the traffic congestion,” he said. Vehicles parked indiscriminately on main roads significantly contribute to this problem.”

Ahmed highlighted the need for regular police checks and strict enforcement of traffic rules. He lauded the recent crackdown on drunk driving but called for similar action against illegal parkers. “Just like they are nabbing drunk drivers, the police should impose fines and take strict action against those who park illegally,” he demanded.

The resident emphasized that wrong-way driving is a major concern, but illegal parking on main roads is an even more pressing issue. He suggested having police officers stationed at popular establishments to issue fines and discourage people from parking illegally.

The resident expressed frustration over the lack of enforcement and urged authorities to take immediate action to alleviate the traffic congestion caused by inconsiderate parking.

Social Media Outrage

Meanwhile, on social media, residents are also voicing their concerns. Rusty, a Hyderabad resident, took to X (formerly Twitter) to highlight the issue of illegal parking at Greenland near the CM camp office. Tagging the Hyderabad Traffic Police, Rusty drew attention to the traffic congestion caused by the problem.

In response, the Hyderabad Traffic Police acknowledged the complaint and directed the Panjagutta Traffic Police Station to investigate the matter.
