Hyderabad to build ₹150 crore Rasoolpura flyover

HYDERABAD: A new flyover is planned for Rasoolpura junction, one of the city’s busiest traffic bottlenecks. The area’s heavy traffic currently forces commuters traveling from Uppal, LB Nagar, and Secunderabad toward Punjagutta, Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, and Jubilee Hills to pass through this intersection. The new flyover will improve traffic flow and ease congestion. Despite several flyovers along the stretch from Secunderabad towards Banjara Hills, vehicles continue to halt at Rasoolpura, leading to long delays and higher fuel consumption.
Officials said the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has invited tenders for the flyover project after completing surveys, investigations and detailed designs.
Four-lane flyover design
The project, estimated at ₹150 crore, includes land acquisition costs of nearly ₹70 crore. The Y-shaped flyover will begin north of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) building. Its initial four-lane carriageway will be 14 metres wide. Near Rasoolpura junction, it will split into two arms: one leading towards Minister Road with three lanes and an 11-metre width, and the other towards Patigadda Road with two lanes and a 7.5-metre width.
Completion target two years
The selected agency must complete the works within two years. Once operational, the flyover is expected to raise average vehicle speed on the stretch from 40 kmph to 65 kmph. The project will be taken up under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) initiative in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode.
