HYDERABAD: The state capital has been ranked 82nd in the list of the world’s top 100 best cities for 2025, according to New York-based Resonance Consultancy.
The assessment is based on three parameters  livability, lovability, and prosperity.

Among Indian cities, Bengaluru ranked highest at 29, followed by Mumbai at 40.

Mixed performance across key sub-categories

Hyderabad recorded a 172nd position in livability but fared significantly better in lovability at 43, supported by cultural appeal, food, history and overall urban experience.
In prosperity, the city ranked 149th.

Tech corridor expansion drives visibility

Resonance noted the city’s fast-changing skyline along the HITEC City–Gachibowli corridor and pointed to major expansions planned by global technology firms.

Microsoft’s expanded India Development Centre and Google’s upcoming 1 million sq ft campus, scheduled to open in 2026, were cited as key indicators of Hyderabad’s rising global footprint.
Amazon now operates 16 million sq ft of office and technology space in the city.

“Hyderabad is a harmonious, high-speed blend of historic grandeur and cutting-edge innovation,” the report stated.

Old City heritage strengthens lovability ranking

The study emphasised that Charminar continues to anchor Laad Bazaar’s jewellery market, while Golconda Fort and Mecca Masjid uphold the city’s architectural legacy. These factors helped boost Hyderabad’s rankings in sights, landmarks and shopping.

Innovation ecosystem gains global attention

Resonance highlighted Hyderabad’s growing innovation landscape. T-Hub 2.0 currently hosts more than 800 startups, while Genome Valley has emerged as India’s leading life sciences hub, home to 200 biotech and pharma companies from 11 countries, including six of the world’s top 10 R&D firms.
