HYDERABAD: Hyderabad recorded their first win of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, defeating Himachal Pradesh by four wickets in their third Group D match that concluded on Tuesday. Chasing a target of 344, Hyderabad resumed their second innings at 8 for no loss and reached 347 for six in 75.3 overs.

Abhirath’s unbeaten 175 steers team to victory

Opener Abhirath Reddy (200 not out off 175 balls; 19 fours, 3 sixes) produced a match-winning knock to take Hyderabad past the line. He added 145 runs for the second wicket with Rahul Radhesh (66 off 127 balls; 8 fours). After Radhesh’s dismissal, Abhirath built crucial partnerships with captain Rahul Singh (24; 2 fours), Himateja (33 off 25; 3 fours, 1 six) and Tanay Thyagarajan (29 off 25; 2 fours), ensuring Hyderabad’s chase stayed on course.

Abhirath shared 74 runs for the third wicket with Rahul Singh, 53 with Himateja for the fourth, and 47 with Tanay for the fifth. Among Himachal’s bowlers, Aryaman Singh claimed three wickets.

Hyderabad chase 344-run target in final innings

Hyderabad, who had drawn their first two matches, earned six points with this win. Himachal earlier scored 318 in the first innings, while Hyderabad managed 278. Taking a 40-run lead, Himachal posted 303 in the second innings, setting Hyderabad a 344-run target.

With this victory, Hyderabad climbed to the top of Group D standings with 10 points, tied with Mumbai.
