Scattered intense thunderstorms lash Hyderabad; severe rain alert for nearby districts

HYDERABAD: According to weather updates, areas including Khairtabad, Shaikpet, Tolichowki, Golconda, Mehdipatnam, Nampally, Charminar, Bahadurpura, Kishanbagh, Rajendranagar, Chandrayangutta, Alwal, Malkajgiri, Uppal, Kapra, LB Nagar and Hayathnagar are likely to experience scattered intense thunderstorms over the next one to two hours.

Isolated rains expected elsewhere in the city

Other parts of Hyderabad may witness isolated light to moderate rain, the forecast added. Commuters have been advised to avoid low-lying areas as waterlogging was reported in several localities following sudden downpours.

Severe thunderstorms likely in nearby districts

Neighbouring districts including Rangareddy, Yadadri-Bhongir, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Nalgonda are also expected to receive scattered severe thunderstorms in the next two hours. The Indian Meteorological Department has cautioned residents in these regions to stay indoors during lightning activity.
