Fallen trees and waterlogged road after rain in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD:  Unseasonal rain accompanied by strong winds hit several parts of the city on Tuesday evening, disrupting traffic and power supply.

Trees were uprooted and branches fell on power lines, leading to outages in multiple areas. Waterlogging was reported on several roads. The rain coincided with office closing hours, worsening traffic congestion across the city.

Hydra teams clear fallen trees and waterlogging

Teams from the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Disaster Response Force (DRF) were deployed immediately. They cleared fallen trees, removed branches, and drained water from roads.

Officials said 21 incidents of fallen trees and 11 complaints of waterlogging were reported. Around 90 per cent of the complaints were resolved by 9 pm.

Gachibowli and Shaikpet among worst-affected areas

In Gachibowli, a power pole on a road divider fell onto trees on the DLF Road, causing a major traffic jam. DRF teams cleared the obstruction around 8.30 pm and restored traffic movement.

Waterlogging was cleared in Shaikpet. In Kalyan Nagar Phase-1, tree branches fell on power lines, causing disruptions. HYDRAA staff worked to remove them.

Trees fell in Gachibowli, Kondapur, Hafeezpet, Miyapur, Golconda, Madhapur, Gudimalkapur and Yousufguda. Teams used battery cutters to remove obstructions.

Officials said about 2 cm of rainfall, accompanied by strong winds, caused disruptions across the city.
