Hyderabad Police meet travel operators on safety compliance
HYDERABAD: A coordination meeting was held on November 14, 2025, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, with more than 50 travel agency owners and managers operating within the zone. Assistant Commissioners of Police and Station House Officers from North Zone also attended.
CCTV coverage and staff checks stressed
Police officials said the purpose of the meeting was to ensure that all travel and tour establishments operate strictly in line with statutory requirements, safety norms, and the provisions of the Telangana State Public Safety Act and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Officials sensitised operators on maintaining transparency, strengthening passenger verification and preventing agencies from becoming conduits for illegal activities. They warned that any negligence affecting public safety or enabling unlawful acts would invite strict legal action.
Agencies told to alert police on suspicious activity
The following directions were issued to all travel agencies for strict compliance:
• Mandatory passenger verification, particularly for out-station and international travellers, with valid ID proofs and digital and physical records.
• Installation of CCTV cameras covering booking counters and office premises with the required backup under the Public Safety Act, and CCTV cameras inside buses for continuous monitoring.
• Accurate maintenance of booking data, including journey information, staff details and vehicle deployment logs, to be produced during police inspections.
• Immediate reporting of suspicious customers or queries to the nearest police station or through police helplines.
• Prevention of unauthorised agents operating in the name of the agency and educating customers on online ticket frauds.
• Prior intimation to local police regarding special group tours, high-risk passenger movements or emergency travel.
• Quick communication channels between agency staff and local police for faster emergency response.
• Verification of all employees for criminal antecedents and maintenance of updated staff records.
• Adequate lighting at boarding points, especially at night, to improve passenger safety.
• Strict adherence to fire safety norms and regular vehicle maintenance, including periodic mechanical checks.
