Hyderabad police Telangana education department partner to combat Narco Terrorism

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police, in collaboration with Telangana Education Department have intensified their efforts to combat ‘Narco Terrorism’ which is aimed at sensitising the students, parents, teachers and schools.

An initiative addressing this soaring drug usage phenomenon of Hyderabad has been slated for March 3, 2024 at the Auditorium, Integrated Police Command & Control Centre, Banjara Hills. The event, scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM, will witness the collaboration between the Hyderabad Police, the education department, and the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC).

The objective of this program is to bring up four foundation pillars that includes; police and government, students’, parents’, teachers’ schools as avenues through which increasing concerns about narcotics may be resolved. The initiative seeks to address not only individual health concerns but also societal decay, funding for terrorist activities, and other crimes associated with drug usage.

A new form of terrorism, referred to as “Narco Terrorism,” has emerged, with terrorist organisations utilising funds obtained from drug sales to finance attacks and procure weapons, according to the city police. To combat this pressing issue, the Hyderabad police have planned an integrated, comprehensive programme aimed at educating schools and students about the impact of drugs and fostering drug resistance.

As part of this effort, a programme involving key personnel from over 500 schools will be organised, inviting them to join hands in supporting the initiative. Distinguished speakers at the event include representatives from the Education Department, the Hyderabad city police, the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau, and other stakeholders.

Sreenivasa Reddy – Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City and Chairman HCSC; Sandeep Shandilya – Director TSNAB; Sridevasena – Commissioner School Education; Avinash Mohanty – Commissioner of Police Cyberabad and Chairman SCSC; Tarun Joshi – Commissioner of Police Rachakonda and Joint Secretary Anti-narcotics Forum.

These speakers will provide insights into the multifaceted approach adopted by the Hyderabad city police to combat the pervasive issues of drug trafficking and abuse.
