Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Maheshwaram apprehended three individuals near Adibatla TCS within the limits of Adibatla police station on Friday, August 16, 2024. The trio was allegedly involved in procuring hashish oil from Andhra Pradesh and selling it in Hyderabad.

Acting on a tip-off, the SOT team intercepted the suspects and seized approximately 3.8 kilograms of hashish oil and three mobile phones, collectively valued at Rs. 31 lakhs.

The accused have been identified as Talapureddy Sudheer (23), a driver; Talapureddi Demullu (26), a farmer; and Kesamshetti Shankar Rao alias Shankar (26), a private employee, all residents of Anakapally in Andhra Pradesh.

The apprehended individuals and the seized contraband have been handed over to the Adibatla police station for further investigation.

It was earlier reported that the Special Operations Team (SOT) of LB Nagar, along with Hayath Nagar police, apprehended two interstate drug peddlers on Sunday, August 11, 2024.

The suspects, cousins Vanchurbha Konda Babu (30) from Madugula and Vanchurbha Balakrishna (20) from Alluri Seetharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, were caught with 13.5 kilograms of hash oil.

The seizure also included two mobile phones, Rs. 2,000 in cash, and 1 kilogram of plastic packing covers, with a total estimated value of Rs. 1,08,00,000 (One Crore Eight Lakh Rupees).

The accused, previously engaged in agricultural work, were reportedly drawn into the drug trade by an unknown source in their village. They transported the hash oil from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, using Hyderabad as a transit point before attempting to sell it at a significantly higher price in Bengaluru.

The duo was apprehended at Taaza Foods Hotel near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) while waiting for their Bengaluru contact. They obtained the hash oil, slightly less than the 14 kg order, on August 8 from Chaduru Mamidi Kondalu, a village 15 kilometers from their hometown. The main suspect remains at large, and a search is ongoing.

Police are appealing to the public and students to be aware of the dangers of narcotics and to report any suspicious activity.

The Rachakonda police department urges the community to help curb the drug menace by reporting any information related to drug trafficking or abuse. They remind the public that procuring, selling, transporting, or consuming banned narcotics is a punishable offense under the NDPS Act, with penalties ranging from 10 years imprisonment to the death penalty.
