V C Sajjanar unveils #SafeRideChallenge to make safety a social trend

HYDERABAD: In a bid to promote responsible driving among citizens, Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, on Monday launched the #SafeRideChallenge, a social media campaign encouraging motorists to adopt safe road habits.
Citizens urged to share safety pledges on social media
The initiative asks participants to post a short video or photo before starting their ride, showing themselves wearing helmets or fastening seat belts, and tag three friends or family members to follow suit. The challenge is designed to create a ripple effect on social media, spreading awareness among commuters and young drivers.
Sajjanar says initiative aims to make safety a ‘cool trend’
“Safety never goes out of style. Every ride begins with a choice to protect yourself and those you love,” Sajjanar said, urging citizens to take part. “Together, we can make safety the coolest trend of 2025,” he added.
The campaign highlights three key steps before every journey — fastening seat belts, wearing helmets, and motivating others to do the same. By using a digital challenge format, Hyderabad Police aims to blend public participation with technology, turning safety compliance into a visible civic movement.
In recent years, the police have increasingly turned to digital outreach to engage citizens in awareness drives. The #SafeRideChallenge continues that approach, combining creativity with public responsibility to build a culture of safety on city roads.
