Hyderabad Police Rescue Kidnapped Boy

Nampally: Within 12 hours of kidnapping a four-year-old, the Hyderabad police rescued the boy and arrested the suspect.

The police arrested the suspect, a 35-year-old laborer from Warangal living on a footpath near Osmania General Hospital, under Section 137(2) BNS.

According to the police, Rubeena Begum filed a complaint at 10 PM on Monday stating her son Mohd Shoheb went missing. Begum stated her husband Mohd Saddam was addicted to alcohol, drank acid 3 months ago due to family problems. On Monday morning at 11:00 her husband left home with their youngest son Mohd Shoheb for treatment atOsmania General Hospital.

When Begum arrived at the hospital at 18:00 hours, she found her husband asleep in the waiting hall, but their son was missing. She searched everywhere but couldn’t find him. Hence she approached Afzalgunj police to trace her son Mohd Shoheb.

CCTV footage helped crack the case: B. Balaswamy DCP East Zone

A police team from PS Afzalgunj, led by SHO G Lingeshwar Rao, launched a search operation. They examined CCTV footage at multiple locations including Public Garden, Nampally Railway Station, Secunderabad Railway Station, Indira Park, Tank Bund, and L&T Metro Stations.

The breakthrough came when footage showed the suspect with the child at Dabeerpura Flyover Bridge. Police intercepted the accused, Shaik Rafeeq, at Dabeerpura Railway Station as he attempted to board a train with the boy.

“While verifying the CCTV footage, the suspect was seen with the baby boy at Dabeerpura Flyover Bridge. The team reached the spot and apprehended the accused trying to board the train at Dabeerpura Railway Station. The teamapprehended the accused and rescued the baby boy within 12 hours from the offence,” said Hyderabad police in a statement.

The operation was supervised by DCP East Zone B. Balaswamy, Additional DCP J. Narsaiah, and ACP Sultan Bazaar Division K. Shankaraiah. The police team included DSI P Ram Kishan, Crime staff HC B Srikanth, and several constables.
