HYDERABAD: Police raided two illegal units manufacturing adulterated ginger garlic paste in unhygienic conditions under the limits of Mylardevpalli police station in Rajendranagar zone on March 11, 2026. Two persons were taken into custody.

Rotten ginger, chemicals used in paste supplied to city shops

Acting on credible information, police inspected houses in Subhan Colony and Ali Nagar where the paste was being produced in violation of norms. Inquiry revealed that the accused were running adulterated trade under the names ‘Seven Cooks’ and ‘Arjun Enterprises’.

Police said the units used rotten ginger and mixed chemicals to prepare the paste, which was later supplied to several shops in Hyderabad.

Police seize 675 kg paste worth ₹ 90,000

The accused were identified as Mohammed Ziauddin, 45, owner of ‘Seven Cooks’ in Ali Nagar, and Mohammed Mazar Ali, 47, owner of ‘Arjun Enterprises’ in Subhan Colony.

Police seized 16 small drums filled with ginger paste, five cartons of half-kg ginger paste packs, one carton of 5-kg packs, 200 labels of ‘Seven Cooks’, labels of ‘Black Gold Spices’, and 1.5 kg of xanthan gum powder used as an adulterant.

A total of 675 kg adulterated ginger paste worth about ₹ 90,000 was seized during the raids.

Cases were registered at Mylardevpalli police station as Crime Numbers 227/2026 and 228/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said strict action would be taken against illegal manufacturing units that endanger public health.
