Police raid adulterated ginger-garlic paste units in Hyderabad, two arrested

HYDERABAD: Police in Rajendra Nagar zone raided two illegal manufacturing units producing adulterated ginger-garlic paste under unhygienic conditions and arrested two persons on March 13, 2026.
Acting on specific information, teams conducted searches at a unit located at H.No. 8-14-12/A near Baba Kanta in Sasthripuram and another at H.No. 8-5-62 near the railway track in Udangadda.
Hazardous additives allegedly used in production
Police said the accused allegedly used low-quality raw materials mixed with salt and hazardous chemicals to manufacture the paste. Investigators found substances such as titanium dioxide and xanthan gum powder used to increase thickness and enhance colour.
Officials said the products posed a serious risk to public health as they were manufactured under unhygienic conditions.
Two accused arrested in the case
The arrested persons were identified as Abdul Aleem, 25, owner of Standard Food Products and a resident of Bahadurpura, and Jasani Dildar Ali, 46, a businessman from Abids.
During the raids, police seized 1,800 kg of ginger-garlic paste, two kg of xanthan gum, two kg of titanium dioxide, and synthetic food colour labelled lemon yellow.
Large quantity of machinery seized
Police also confiscated seven packing machines, three grinding machines and two weighing machines from the units.
Cases were registered at Mailardevpally police station under Crime Nos. 232/2026 and 233/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is under way.
