HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS on Thursday urged residents to remain alert as heavy rain continued across the city and the India Meteorological Department forecast more rainfall over the next two days.

Commissioner reviews traffic arrangements amid rain

Sajjanar advised citizens to monitor weather alerts issued by the India Meteorological Department and plan their daily travel based on rainfall forecasts. He also requested people to avoid venturing out unless absolutely necessary during heavy rain.

The Commissioner inspected traffic movement at Panjagutta and Khairatabad junctions on Thursday and reviewed road conditions. He issued directions to officers to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimise inconvenience to commuters.

Police coordinating with civic agencies

Sajjanar said the Hyderabad City Police are working in coordination with all government departments, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), to address rain-related issues and ensure public safety.

He said police personnel would remain deployed across the city to prevent traffic congestion and respond quickly to emergencies.

Public advised to avoid flooded areas

The Commissioner advised people to stay away from open manholes, snapped power lines and electric poles during rainfall. He also urged motorists to reduce speed and drive carefully in waterlogged areas and near flyovers.

People requiring emergency assistance or traffic-related help can dial 100, he said.

Sajjanar appealed to the public to follow advisories issued by the Hyderabad City Traffic Police through social media and other official communication channels to ensure safe travel.
