In a separate incident, the Hyderabad police conducted a raid on a sand trading business in the Puranapul area, seizing 60 tonnes of sand worth Rs 1.20 lakh. The sand was being sold without proper documentation or permission from mining authorities, leading to the arrest of one individual.
Hyderabad Police Seize 160 Kg Ganja Worth Rs 48 Lakh, 3 Held

Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics supply, the Task Force (south-west) team, in coordination with the Kulsumpura police, have seized 160 kg of ganja and arrested three persons, a press release said on Wednesday.

The accused, including an interstate drug peddler, a sub-peddler, and a driver were held on charges of drug peddling. The police have recovered a car and three mobile phones. The arrested persons have been identified as 48-year-old Guguloth Heeru of Warangal, 35-year-old Puranam Raju of Warangal and 46-year-old Dudekula Maqbul Saab, a resident of Sangareddy district.

Acting on credible inputs, the police teams intercepted a car which was found to be transporting 160 kg of ganja, valued at around Rs. 48 lakh. Preliminary probe revealed that Guguloth Heeru has a criminal record in narcotics trafficking and was arrested previously in 2014 and 2019 for similar offences.

The arrested gang would purchase ganja from known drug dealers from Bhadrachalam and sell it to consumers in Maharashtra and Hyderabad at a higher rate, the police said.

In an unrelated incident, the Hyderabad police launched a crackdown on illegal sand trading in the city. The police seized 60 tonnes of sand worth Rs 1.20 lakh during raids in the Puranapul area. They arrested one 37-year-old K Santhosh Singh from Lower Dhoolpet for engaging in an illegal activity.

In a joint operation led by the Commissioner’s Task Force, south west Hyderabad city, along with the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) of Nampally mandal, Hyderabad division, the officials conducted a raid on the premises of “Sandeep Weigh Bridge, Sandeep Construction and Building Material.

During a raid, the officials found that sand was being sold without bills, documents, or permission from mining authorities. They confiscated 60 tonnes of sand, whose market value is Rs. 1.20 lakh as the accused was not only selling sand without any bills, documents, or permission from the mining authority but also earning profit illegally.
