Hyderabad police form H-FAST to curb food adulteration

HYDERABAD: City police have set up a new wing to address food adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) to strengthen food safety and curb adulteration in the city. The initiative is led by Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar in coordination with food safety officials.

The unit was inaugurated by Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad. Officials said the primary aim is to act against food adulteration through intelligence-based enforcement and a strengthened operational mechanism.

The H-FAST wing will comprise twenty-eight personnel, including inspectors, sub-inspectors and other staff. The team will identify offenders, maintain surveillance, conduct raids and initiate strict legal action against the accused.

Dedicated toll-free helpline launched for public complaints

The team will work jointly with food safety officials to conduct field level inspections and ensure effective monitoring.

Inspectors N. Ranjith Kumar Goud and Anjaiah, along with sub-inspectors Ramya, Abhilash, Akhil and Krishna, and other team members attended the launch programme.

Authorities have set up a toll-free helpline 8712661212 for citizens to report cases of adulterated or unsafe food. Complaints can also be shared with the H-FAST team through social media platforms.

Officials warned that food adulteration is a serious offence affecting public health and said there will be no leniency towards offenders. They urged citizens to stay alert and share information about suspected food manufacturing units.
