Nigerian deported for illegal activities

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has successfully detained and deported a 53-year-old Nigerian national following credible intelligence linking him to illegal activities. The decision to deport Ikeji Innocent Nduka was made to prevent further involvement in activities detrimental to national security.

Ikeji Innocent Nduka, son of Ikeji Sailas Eche and a native of Lagos, Nigeria, had been residing in Bangalore, Karnataka.

According to police investigations, he entered India on a tourist visa in 2009. For a year, he was involved in the scarf business in Mumbai, sourcing products from Surat, Gujarat. He then moved to Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, where he sold T-shirts for four years before relocating to Bangalore in 2014.

In May 2024, Ikeji Innocent Nduka traveled to Hyderabad with plans to engage in illegal activities. He was apprehended in the Panjagutta area. During interrogation, it was revealed that Nduka had overstayed his visa and passport expiration and was involved in illicit activities. Furthermore, he was found to be using a fake identity to evade legal complications and facilitate his return to Nigeria.

A Movement Restriction Order was obtained from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) Hyderabad to deport Nduka. He was detained at the Hyderabad Detention Centre. The Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi issued an emergency travel document to assist with his deportation. An exit permit from the FRRO was also secured, and Nduka was deported to Nigeria on September 7, 2024, from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

Appeal to the Public:

The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) urges the public to remain vigilant against substance abuse. Foreign nationals who overstay their visas and engage in illegal activities, including drug trafficking, are a growing concern. This contributes to rising drug abuse and addiction, with severe consequences for families and society.

H-NEW calls on the people of Hyderabad to avoid substance abuse and advises parents to monitor their children closely to prevent drug addiction. Anyone with information related to drug abuse is encouraged to contact the H-NEW team at 8712661601.

Inspectors K. Srinivas and G.S. Daniel, Sub-Inspector Venkat Ramulu, and the H-NEW staff conducted the operation.
