Hyderabad police nab West Bengal man for sharing child abuse material online
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police apprehended an individual identified as SK Jamsed, a resident of West Bengal, for circulating and sharing child sexual abuse material on Facebook and other social media platforms, causing it to go viral.
Following a complaint received on December 12, 2020, at 12:10 pm from the Inspector of Police, C.ID., Hyderabad, regarding the circulation of child sexual abuse material online, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Centre of Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), USA, on April 26, 2019. This agreement aimed to proactively gather information about the circulation of such material in cyberspace.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 67 B of the I.T. Act at the Cybercrime police station in Hyderabad, and an investigation was initiated. The investigative team, led by Inspector S. Naresh and including officers sub-inspector A.Shailendra, head constables Venkatesh, Mohammed Feroz, and PC S.Ravi, made strenuous efforts and apprehended the accused in Bangalore. The accused was then brought to CCPS, Hyderabad, and sent for judicial remand.
The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of A.V.Ranganath, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crimes and SIT, Hyderabad, D.Kavitha, DCP, Cyber Crimes, Hyderabad, and ACP R.G Siva Maruthi, Cybercrime police station, Hyderabad.
The cybercrime police cautioned against spreading content related to child pornography/sexual abuse and urged to report any such circulation to the police.
