Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone Team, along with the Domalguda Police Station, raided an online cricket betting den at Pawani Lingaiah Apartment, Himayath Nagar, on April 30, 2025. Three individuals were arrested in connection with the illegal betting operation.

The main accused, Sriraj Boob, aged 42, is an automobile businessman from Himayath Nagar and has a history of organizing illegal betting activities. He was arrested along with Hondmane Sainath, a 32-year-old travel agent from Chikkadapally, who acted as a sub-bookie, and Regalla Gopynath, a 29-year-old private employee from Chikkadapally, who served as a punter and betting amount collection agent.

The police seized a total of Rs. 1,20,000 in cash, which was the betting amount, along with three mobile phones containing apps used for online betting. These apps were employed to organize and manage the illegal cricket betting operations.

According to police reports, Sriraj Boob, who has been involved in cricket betting for several years, used an online platform, to facilitate live betting during IPL matches. The app provided ball-by-ball score updates and betting ratios, allowing punters to place wagers on the match. Sriraj recruited Sainath and Gopynath, offering them a 5% commission on the betting amounts they collected from bettors.

On the day of the raid, the accused were found accepting and organizing betting amounts related to the ongoing IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. The betting amounts were directly transferred to Sriraj Boob’s account, with Sainath and Gopynath collecting money from various punters.

This was not the first time that Sriraj Boob and Sainath had been arrested for their involvement in cricket betting operations. The authorities have now handed over the arrested individuals and the seized materials to the Domalguda Police Station for further legal action.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of the Inspector of Police, Central Zone Task Force, and the staff of both the Task Force and Domalguda Police Station.
