Hyderabad police arrest Syed Arbaaz in snatching case

HYDERABAD: The Kulsumpura police station arrested a 23-year-old man accused in a mobile phone snatching case and seized ₹2,000 from him, police said on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Golconda Zone, G. Chandra Mohan said the accused had been absconding for the past few weeks.

Incident took place near Peela Mandapam

Police identified the accused as Syed Fakruddin alias Arbaaz, a resident of Bhavani Nagar. He works at an old tyre shop in Bahadurpura.

On December 16 last year, the complainant was speaking with friends near Peela Mandapam in Ziaguda when Arbaaz arrived on a Honda Activa along with his associate Mohammed Imtiyaz alias Shooter. Two others, Shaik Haji and Kaleem, were also present.

Police said the group targeted the victim while he was using his phone, rode close to him, snatched the device and fled. The phone was later sold, and Arbaaz allegedly received ₹2,500 as his share.

Two accused already in jail

Police said Imtiyaz and Shaik Haji are already in judicial custody in the case.

The crime team arrested Arbaaz on Tuesday and recovered ₹2,000 cash from him. Police are searching for Kaleem, who remains absconding.

DCP Chandra Mohan commended Kulsumpura Inspector A. Ramulu, Detective Inspector D. Nagarjuna and the crime team for solving the case.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional DCP Krishna Goud and Goshamahal Assistant Commissioner of Police Sudarshan.
