HYDERABAD: Charminar Zone Task Force officials arrested a rowdy sheeter who had been evading arrest for 35 years in connection with an attempt-to-murder case registered in 1991.

Ilyas Bin Hussain Yafai, a resident of Chandrayangutta, was wanted in several criminal cases. Chandrayangutta police opened a rowdy sheet against him after he allegedly went out of police reach following the 1991 case.

Yafai had gone abroad in search of work. After returning to India, he worked as a painter in different states and stayed away from his native place to evade police surveillance.

After remaining untraced for a long period, task force personnel identified Yafai based on information received from surveillance teams and arrested him.
