Hyderabad Police Arrest Four in MDMA Case
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Panjagutta police arrested one alleged drug peddler and three consumers during a joint operation conducted as part of the city police’s anti-drug drive on Monday. Police seized 13.5 grams of MDMA and seven grams of charas worth ₹1,40,000 from the accused.
Police registered a case under Crime No. 366/2026 at Panjagutta police station under Sections 8(c) read with 22(c), 20(b)(ii)(B), and 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The arrested alleged peddler was identified as Thakur R. Keshav Raj Singh, 30, a real estate businessman from Secunderabad. The consumers were identified as Rohan Williams, 30, a software employee from West Marredpally, Ayush Gupta, 30, an HR professional from East Marredpally, and Lakkireddy Nikhil Anurag, 29, an AI engineer from Chilakalaguda.
MBA graduate allegedly turned drug supplier
According to police, Keshav Raj Singh completed an MBA and was involved in real estate and stock market businesses before allegedly turning to drug peddling. Investigators said he became addicted to alcohol, cigarettes, MDMA and hashish while pursuing a lavish lifestyle.
Police said he initially procured drugs for personal use from absconding suppliers and later allegedly began selling narcotics to earn quick money after facing financial difficulties. He allegedly targeted pub circles, party groups and friends to expand the business.
Investigators said the accused accepted payments only in cash and supplied drugs through hand-to-hand delivery to avoid detection by police.
Police warn youth against drug abuse
Police said the involvement of educated professionals, including software engineers, in drug abuse was a matter of concern. Officials warned that narcotics not only destroy individuals but also affect families and society.
The police appealed to youngsters to stay away from drugs and advised parents to closely monitor their children’s behaviour and friend circles. Citizens with information related to drugs were asked to contact police on 8712661601.
