Hyderabad Police Arrest 10 in Yavan Murder Case
HYDERABAD: Police arrested 10 people in connection with the murder of Yavan in Chilakalaguda, Secunderabad Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Rakshita said on Monday.
Addressing the media, the DCP said nine of the accused are adults while one is a juvenile. Police said the murder was carried out at the instigation of Sai Kiran, the girl’s brother-in-law.
According to investigators, Yavan and the girl had known each other since their school days and had been in a relationship for the past two years. The girl’s family had earlier warned Yavan, police said.
Police detail sequence of attack
Police said the accused planned the murder five days before the incident on May 7. They allegedly kept Yavan under surveillance and conducted reconnaissance before identifying his location near a friend’s house.
“One accused stabbed Yavan 16 to 17 times with a knife,” Rakshita said. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and shifted him to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police seized the knife used in the crime, a motorcycle and mobile phones from the accused.
Young people warned against criminal activities
Police identified the accused as A1 Sai Kiran, A2 Rajam Paramesh, A3 Rajam Vamsi Krishna, A4 Rajam Manish, A5 Srigiri Rahul, A6 Kuchula Shivanandan, A7 Rajam Narasimha, A8 Rajam Srisailam, A9 Rajam Mallesh and a juvenile.
Rakshita said drug tests conducted on Rahul and Shivanandan returned positive results. The investigation is continuing.
“Young people aged between 19 and 21 are increasingly getting involved in murders and ruining their future. City youth should stay away from such crimes and avoid harmful habits,” the DCP said.
