Hyderabad Police launches AI Coprwriter app to enable multilingual complaint registration
HYDERABAD: Integrating artificial intelligence into policing, Hyderabad City Police on Saturday launched AI Coprwriter, an AI-powered mobile application designed to record, transcribe and translate complaints made by victims in multiple Indian languages.
The application was unveiled by V. C. Sajjanar at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) in Banjara Hills. The app will soon be introduced in more than 80 police stations across Hyderabad.
Developed by Hyderabad City Police in collaboration with BlueCloud Soft Tech Solutions and intern Pagro Chandu, the application enables police personnel to instantly record complaints made in a victim’s mother tongue and convert them into a language understood by investigators.
Hyderabad Police said the initiative was aimed at addressing language-related difficulties faced by migrant workers, tourists and others who do not speak Telugu or English while approaching police stations.
Complaint process to become faster and more transparent
According to police officials, the app can recognise and process more than 10 major Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi. Spoken complaints are immediately converted into text and translated into a language accessible to police personnel.
Officials said the technology significantly reduces the time taken to record complaints, eliminating the need for translators and enabling complaints to be processed within seconds.
The application also incorporates transparency features. Details such as the identity of the recording officer and timestamps are automatically embedded into PDF records, reducing the possibility of tampering. It can also distinguish between statements made by victims, accused persons and witnesses, recording each separately through a multi-party labelling system.

Technology to strengthen investigations
Speaking at the launch, Sajjanar said the introduction of the country’s first AI-based multilingual complaint recorder was a significant step in modern policing.
“As Hyderabad is a global city, it hosts people from different states who do not speak Telugu or English, as well as foreigners. This app will address delays in complaint registration and inaccuracies caused by language barriers. If a victim speaks in their mother tongue, the application instantly recognises, translates and converts the statement into an official record,” he said.
He added that the system updates information every five seconds during speech recording and is expected to improve public confidence in police services, particularly among migrant workers, women and senior citizens.
“Accurately recording every word spoken by victims will improve the quality of investigations and enhance the chances of securing punishment for offenders. The technology will also reduce the typing burden on police personnel and standardise record-keeping procedures,” he said.
Sajjanar expressed confidence that AI Coprwriter would mark a new phase in smart policing by ensuring that language is never a barrier to seeking justice.
The launch event was attended by M. Srinivasa Rao, Tafseer Iqbal, C. H. Rupesh, Inspector Ramesh, representatives of BlueCloud Soft Tech Solutions and other officials.
AI adoption expands across Hyderabad Police
Hyderabad City Police has increasingly integrated AI into various policing functions as part of its technology-driven governance strategy.
The department has implemented AI in C-Mitra, a platform used for handling cybercrime complaints. It has also introduced AI-based systems for assigning duties to City Armed Reserve personnel, replacing manual allocation methods and ensuring greater transparency in postings.
Additionally, Hyderabad Police uses an AI-based application called SOCK-AI to monitor social media activity, identify elements that may disturb public order and detect content threatening the safety of women and children.
With the introduction of AI Coprwriter, the police department aims to make complaint registration faster, more accurate and more accessible to the public.
