Hyderabad Petrol Bunk Displaying ‘no Stock’ Board During Weekend Closures

HYDERABAD:  Over the weekend, several petrol bunks across Hyderabad displayed ‘No Stock’ boards, leading to public concern about a possible fuel shortage. Videos from Attapur, Uppal, Ghatkesar, and other areas circulated widely on social media.

Petrol dealers clarified that the situation arose from local logistical issues rather than a depletion of national reserves. Vinay Kumar, petrol dealer and former General Secretary of the Petrol Pump Association of Telangana, explained, “There is no need for the public to panic; there is no actual stock shortage. The ‘No Stock’ boards appeared because depots were closed for two consecutive days due to Ramzan and Sunday.”

He added, “Usually, depots do not close for two days. The major issue is the ‘advance payment’ system to oil companies. Because of the two-day bank holiday, many dealers could not deposit money in time.”

Kumar further said that petrol reserves are sufficient and closed bunks were only due to payment delays and internal issues. Amid concerns from recent LPG shortages in the commercial sector, citizens rushed to functional stations, triggering temporary congestion.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanaar urged the public to remain calm, avoid panic-buying, and cooperate with authorities. “Such actions may lead to unnecessary congestion and disruption,” he said. The police are monitoring the situation closely in coordination with all concerned departments.
